A BBL, a Brazilian butt lift, is an immensely popular procedure, known as a butt augmentation, to enhance the firmness and fullness of your buttocks. While some women are seeking a butt lift to counter the impacts of age or weight fluctuations, many women have butt lifts to look and feel elegant and confident in the clothes they love to wear.
As the secret behind the luscious butt curves of women such as Kim Kardashian and Jessica Biel, BBL’s have become one of the fastest growing surgeries according to the American Society of Plastic surgeons, and now we can also see it in our home Country Australia.
While there is a plethora of cheap alternatives, surgery is the gold standard for more natural and long-lasting results. Surgery isn’t right for everyone; you will need to talk with your surgeon to asses if a BBL is right for you. Factors such as regular exercise, smoking and health issues, can determine if you are a suitable candidate for a BBL.
The actual process involves the transfer of fat cells from one part of your body to your buttocks. Depending on the complexity of the procedure, you can either have the procedure performed under sedation, general or local anaesthesia. Your surgeon will use Liposuction to remove fat from other parts of the body including your thighs, arms, love handles, stomach, etc. Once this fat is purified, it is injected into target areas in the butt, to create your desired look.
Everyone’s post-surgery recovery experience is different. There is down time after surgery, taking weeks or months for a full recovery. You will not be able to sit on your butt for two weeks and you will need to avoid back sleeping for weeks or months unless you have a BBL Mattress ** BBL Bed Mattress – Cheeky | Helps Aid Recovery Post Surgery (cheekyrecovery.com.au) ** that has been specially designed to allow you to sleep facing up post BBL. Post-surgery care includes wearing compression garments to help assisting shaping your body post-surgery.
Surgery requires a substantial investment. Women who want the surgeon of their choice pay an average of $18,000 AUD for their surgery. Finding the right surgeon should be backed up with a rigorous research process, like any good investment, better research will lead to better results.
Getting the right equipment is key to a good surgery recovery experience.
Body pressure on your butt its believed that could damage the fat cells transferred during surgery, which is why your doctor will recommend you avoid putting body weight on your buttocks for 2 weeks up to months, depending on the individual and the doctor.
To get a good night’s sleep after a BBL, a mattress with a hole to rest your butt is essential. The Cheeky Recovery mattress BBL Bed Mattress – Cheeky | Helps Aid Recovery Post Surgery (cheekyrecovery.com.au) has been purposed designed to make your sleep as comfortable as possible. You have two options for sleeping, face down or face up, side sleeping is not recommended, especially if the hip dips were treated during surgery.
After a BBL, you will not be able to sleep on your back for at least 2 weeks post-surgery. You may experience discomfort without proper support to sleep.
It is important to know that it is body pressure, not contact, which may affect the butt recovery. With that in mind, your cheeks or hips can make light contact with the mattress, which is important to a good night sleep. We all agree how essential is a good night sleep post-surgery.
For face down sleepers, we have a face pillow, which will allow you to position your face in a hole for a comfortable night sleep, like a massage table. A face down position is recommended for people who feel strain in the lower back after surgery. A face down position allows you to relax your lower back while breathing comfortably.
The Cheeky Recovery XXL mattress has recently increased the size of the hole in the mattress, to give you more flexibility in positioning yourself the hole and to accommodate different body shapes and sizes more comfortably.
Back sleepers can use cushions and pillows within the larger hole to get the most comfortable sleep. A combination of a larger hole mattress and pillows, provides you with the flexibility to adjust your position within the hole and provide just the right amount of light touch support, to give you the most comfortable sleep possible.
Cheeky Recovery’s XXL mattress has a light plush velvet like surface. This surface provides a smoother and more pleasing sleeping experience for your skin than the standard PVC surface. It also is much more non-slip, helping you to lie securely within your preferred position and to move with much less risk of slippage than a PVC surface. Usually with our standard BBL mattress we recommend a bed sheet over the PVC. As the plush surface is so comfortable, many women choose to sleep directly on the surface without the need for bed sheets.

Essential items to experience a comfortable recovery will vary with individuals. It is important to have your equipment at home waiting for your return from hospital.
Here is Cheeky Recovery’s list of essential for BBL recovery.
Post-surgical Fajas and compression garments
Known for their effectiveness in preventing the build-up of fluid and the onset of fibrosis, a low compression garment MARENA COMPRESSION GARMENTS BBL & LIPOSUCTION – Cheeky (cheekyrecovery.com.au) is recommended after a BBL. It is recommended that the garment also knows as Faja is worn for 3 weeks’ post-surgery full time. Be sure you try your Faja on, to ensure you have the right level of compression, it needs to be firm while still allowing blood circulation. Try a cotton tank top underneath your garment/ Faja to capture any build-up of sweat. But watch out for creases if the garment/Faja is too tight. If you do wear a cotton tank top, ensure it doesn’t crease and cause the Faja to be too tight.
Lipo Foams Pads & Flanks Boards
Use Lipo Foam Pads Liposuction Foam Pads (Set of 3) – Cheeky | Anti-Bacterial | Breathable (cheekyrecovery.com.au) and /or Flank Boards Lipo Foam Compression Sheets – Cheeky | Post Op Recovery Aid (cheekyrecovery.com.au) under your Faja, to compress and flatten the abdominal skin, it is recommended to wear Lipo Foams for up to 3 months after surgery.
Abdominal Boards

At Cheeky we have 3 different Ab Boards to recommend:
AB Board Butterfly AB Board Butterfly – Cheeky | Abdominal Compression Board (cheekyrecovery.com.au)

Expect to be peeing quite often after a BBL. Our clients find standing up with an open crotch Faja would be the most practical way to urinate without squatting and bending over.
BBL pillow
Sitting after a BBL is to be avoided for at the very least, a minimum of 2 weeks and in most cases, avoid sitting directly on your butt for up to 8 weeks. Cheeky Recovery has researched pillow types with our customers, and we are very proud to recommend our BBL pillow Cheeky BBL Pillow – Cheeky | BBL Post Op Support (cheekyrecovery.com.au), with thigh cut outs for optimum comfort. In case of excessive fluid, you may consider having adult diapers on hand if you feel you need more than a sanitary pad.
BBL Mattress
A BBL inflatable mattress BBL Bed Mattress – Cheeky | Helps Aid Recovery Post Surgery (cheekyrecovery.com.au) has a hole to place your buttocks into which allows a comfortable position for a face up sleeping. Cheeky Recovery recommends getting a wedge pillow Wedge Pillow Inflatable – Cheeky (cheekyrecovery.com.au) and a range of small pillows to place in the hole if needed, so you can arrange most suitable hole size for maximum comfort.
Abdominal Binder
An abdominal elastic binder is compression belt that wraps around the abdomen, commonly used to supplement the recovery process after abdominal surgery like liposuction, caesarean section, bariatric surgery, exploratory laparotomy, hysterectomy, hernias or spinal surgery. Abdominal binder is known to help to reduce postoperative pain, swelling and may help managing the stress caused by discomfort post op.
Binders can be different sizes to cover different size torsos, so always check your size to make sure you get the most suitable for you.

Everyone’s timeline for recovery is unique and happens at your body’s own unique pace. It can take up to 6 months for the full effects of the BBL to be in place. The good news is many people can expect to retain this full level of butt fullness for many years after the surgery.
The average timeline for recovery from a BBL is 6 weeks.
On average you can expect to take 2 weeks off work and is recommended avoiding swimming for 4 weeks.
Week 1
Wear a compression garment, ab boards, Lipo foams, Binder, to reduce fluid and possible swelling.
Week 2 -3
Pain is getting better; you are still required to sit on a BBL pillow. Some people return to work after 2 weeks, most are able to resume light activities in week 2. After 2 weeks, the bruises in areas where fat was removed should subside. You need to avoid sitting anywhere including the toilet until start of week 3 or as advised by a doctor. Typically, compression garments can come off on a full time basis after 3 weeks, while still wearing them part time (12 hours a day) until week 6-12.
Week 4 – 5
Depending on your recovery and your Dr recommendation you may be able to start exercising. Some people resume sitting after week 3, however depending on the procedure and your Dr recommendations, avoiding body weight pressure on your buttocks is mostly welcome until the end of week 4-5.
Week 6 -7
By this time, pain and swelling may have subsided significantly. As some of the fat, (in some cases up to 30%) is reabsorbed into the blood stream, you should see the initial shaping effects after 6 weeks. You will need to continue wearing compression garments and its also recommended the use the BBL pillow up until at least the 6-week mark. You can now start wearing a stage 3 Faja (compression garment)
STAGE 3 COMPRESSION COLOMBIAN FAJA – Cheeky (cheekyrecovery.com.au)
You should be able to resume driving at this stage, driving involves pushing back on the pedals and accordingly to majority of surgeons we chat to, they agree should be avoided until the 6-week mark.
Week 8
You can resume wearing jeans in week 8. Given your doctor agrees you can resume exercise that targets the butt, such as squats and lunges. Incision scars should heal by week 8 given the correct treatment during the first weeks of recovery such as the use of stratamed STRATAMED WOUND DRESSING 5g – Cheeky (cheekyrecovery.com.au) (stage 1) and strataderm STRATADERM GEL – SCAR TREATMENT – Cheeky (cheekyrecovery.com.au) (stage 2) scars treatment gels.
Tips for a better recovery
- Keep your incisions clean to avoid infection
- Wash your garments and foams daily
- Clean your boards daily
- Use an antibacterial wash
- Your skin can get dry after surgery, use a good moisturiser or bio oil
- Keep hydrated, you will lose a lot of fluids.
- Wear loose clothing, natural fibres for good airflow
- Walk at least 5-15 minutes every hour and perform gentle leg and body stretches, keeping the blood flowing and to reduce the risk of blood clotting
It is important to give your fat cells a best opportunity to establish blood supply. BBL patients generally avoid direct sitting from 2 to 4 weeks, some take longer.
Cheeky Recovery recommends a BBL Pillow Cheeky BBL Pillow – Cheeky | BBL Post Op Support (cheekyrecovery.com.au) with thigh cut outs to sit on top of your normal chairs (office, dinning, plane), and a memory foam back support Post Operative Back Foam Pillow Support – Cheeky (cheekyrecovery.com.au). These can be used from day 1 post operation. To sit properly on these pillows, keep your weight on your thighs to avoid any direct pressure on your butt.
One of Cheeky most popular items is the inflatable BBL Chair Lounge BBL Inflatable Lounge Chair – Cheeky (cheekyrecovery.com.au), it allows you to comfortably binge watching tv, reading a book or eating sitting down. The BBL lounge chair has a big hole to avoid body weight pressure on your butt cheeks.
If you have a BBL Mattress BBL Bed Mattress – Cheeky | Helps Aid Recovery Post Surgery (cheekyrecovery.com.au), a favourite position for sitting, especially in early weeks of recovery is by using an inflatable wedge pillow Wedge Pillow Inflatable – Cheeky (cheekyrecovery.com.au) on top of the inflatable mattress. It is a popular way for BBL patients to watch TV or generally chilling out. The combination of a wedge pillow with the inflatable mattress allows you to be in an elevated position. Most people like to experiment with different positions and pillows.
It is advisable not to sit on your butt up to 8 weeks after surgery, some patients, being overly cautious, wait months to sit on their butt. Some doctors have observed that there is a correlation between how long people refrain from sitting with direct body weight pressure on their butt and the amount of fat that is retained.
If your work life requires you to sit 8 hours a day in a chair, it is essential to protect your fat cells with a BBL Pillow Cheeky BBL Pillow – Cheeky | BBL Post Op Support (cheekyrecovery.com.au) . Try a standing desk to minimise the number of hours you are sitting. Take regular breaks to avoid sitting for extended periods.
A BBL is a substantial investment, an investment that needs to be maintained with a good daily practice, especially in the first few months. On average, a surgeon will inject 300 -1,000 mls of fat into each cheek, depending on the doctor, they will usually aim for more than you need long term, because up to 30% of the fat may not survive. To keep the retained fat cells, you will need a good plan of action to help your fat cells survive.
Below we have put together the top tips to help your fat cells survive.
Nutrition
Additional calories are required to sustain the blood supply to new fat cells.
Do’s
Here is a list of recommended foods:
- avocados,
- black or kidney beans,
- dark chocolate,
- bananas,
- pumpkin seeds,
- lean proteins such as salmon and chicken,
- nuts such as almonds, cashews and peanuts,
- extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil.
Don’ts
The usual suspects are on the ‘no go’ list; sweets, sodas, refined grains, fried food and processed meat and beer.
No smoking
Smoking reduces your body’s ability to heal itself by reducing oxygen and nutrients in the blood stream and it reduces a healthy uptake of fat. Stop smoking is recommended at least 2 weeks before surgery.
Limit Alcohol
It is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption for 2 weeks after surgery and to stop drinking 2 days before surgery. You will not want to prolong the healing process, so alcohol consumption is a no no post-surgery until you are cleared by your Dr.
Water
Water is recommended, as is electrolyte drinks like Gatorade, which has the added salts and minerals to support your body to maintain its hydration levels. Always consult with your Dr for their recommendation.
Exercise
At the 6 week mark, your fat cells would have established a good blood supply and it’s time to start exercising.
Lymphatic drain massage
Between 5 to 12 sessions of lymphatic drainage massage are ideal after a BBL. The lymphatic drain massages are known to reduce scarring, eliminate fluid build-up and minimise swelling.
A BBL is day surgery and generally takes 2 to 5 hours.
Doctors say 4 to 5 litres of fat can be removed by liposuction during surgery, and more than 5 litres is not considered safe in one surgery. Liposuction is one of the most common surgery procedures in the world. Liposuction takes fat from body areas where it is in excess, such as the love handles, thighs, back and abdomen. This fat is filtered and re injected into the patients butt to create the desired fuller shape.
The average fat injection per cheek is around 300-1000 mls and will vary according to a patient’s desired results and the skin tightness. your doctor will recommend an optimum limit based on your unique case.
The removal of fat from the stomach, will leave you with a flatter abdomen. The combination of fat removal from the lower back, flanks and stomach (also known as lipo 360) and a fuller bottom, can give you a more hourglass figure. It is not just your buttocks that can look better after a BBL, but your whole body will achieve a more curvaceous silhouette. Good nutrition and exercise can keep these results in place for years to come.
We are often asked by our customer what to pack for a BBL procedure. Here is the Cheeky Recovery check list.

It is recomended to have a carer for the first 24 to 48 hours after a BBL as your movement may be limited. Arranging for transport home is important, as you will need assistance moving in and out of vehicles. You are going to feel sore and stiff and may need assistance to for meal preparation and getting in and out of bed. You will need to avoid strenuous exercise for 4-6 weeks or as long as recommended by your doctor, but you should start light movement straight away to aid your recovery.
Your doctor or nurse will typically check in to see if you are okay the next day and will give you the green light to shower usually 48 hours post-surgery, and even to leave the house in a couple of days, if things are progressing nicely.
After about two days you will be able to move around. Most patients can use the blow-up mattress themselves after day 1, you will need to slide on the mattress by yourself to start using it. Use pillows to get yourself comfortable and keep your body in the right position. Women who have had a BBL claim to know intuitively not to roll around in bed but feel more confident when they have pillows to anchor them in the right position when facing down sleeping.
After two weeks you can start a light exercise program in consultation with your doctor, most people resume to full exercise routines after 6 weeks. In fact, taking walks is one of the best things to improve your recovery, the better blood circulation will improve the results. Stretches reduces the chances of blot clots and once the fat cells have stabilised at 6 weeks, a normal exercise routine can be resumed if you doctor agrees. Common exercises recommended after 6 weeks include: Squats, Lunges, Standing lateral, side and plank leg raises.
Fill prescriptions for the post op medications before the operations such as pain killers and stool softeners. Pineapple and prune juice are great to have close by!
You can expect some bruising and swelling which will reduce in the upcoming weeks. You will experience some discomfort in the area where the fat was removed.
Blood-stained fluids may ooze from incisions and will typically stop 24 hours after the procedure. There may be some swelling on the butt area which will subside after 6 weeks at which time you will see how much fat has been gained.
Get in and out of bed with assistance if required in the first few days. It is important to get in and out of bed often to keep moving. Lie on your stomach, if possible, with a face pillow Face Foam Pillow- Hollow – Cheeky | Release stress | Buy one today (cheekyrecovery.com.au)for maximum comfort or face up using an inflatable BBL mattress BBL Bed Mattress – Cheeky | Helps Aid Recovery Post Surgery (cheekyrecovery.com.au)
Keep the compression garment on and crease free against the skin, only removing it to shower. Ensure you wipe incisions dry after wetting them in the shower. It is not recommended to bath for at least 2 weeks after the BBL.
You can massage liposuction’d sites after 1 day post-surgery. It is important to include lymphatic massages to stop inflammation which can turn into fibrosis or seroma which allows pockets of blood to form. You can also massage yourself with a massage roller Massage Roller – Cheeky | 3D Y-Design | No Charging (cheekyrecovery.com.au), or led Thermal massager. Massager LED Therapy – Cheeky | Improves circulation (cheekyrecovery.com.au)
Keep an eye out for infections, an increase in swelling and redness can indicate increased infections, pain and odour are also signs infection may be present. If you suspect an infection contact your doctor immediately.
The BBL chair is the chair that allows people to have all the comfort of a lounge chair without exposing direct pressure to hips and buttocks, keeping the new transferred fat cells protected post op. The BBL chair is recommended by doctors and patients to allow you to relax in comfort while you heal. The chair has a 60cm x 42 cm hole positioned in the middle, which helps people sit without putting body weight pressure on their butt. The chair can securely accommodate people up to 120 kilograms in weight.
Many people recovering from their BBL surgery find having the option of lounge style chair enables them to return to normal lifestyle activities, and gain relief from the monotony of having to sit on an upright chair or lie. Unlike the BBL pillow which you can use at dining tables and desks, the BBL chair is for chilling out. The BBL chair comes with an ottoman, allowing you to put your feet up in a semi reclining pose.
The chair is made from a robust PVC surface, it can be used both inside and outside. The chair is comfortable enough to snooze in and supportive enough to sit while you read, browse the internet, watch TV or enjoy the company of family and friends. While the chair is placed directly on the floor for stability, it is higher enough to sit within a lounge setting while spending time with family and friends. The ottoman fits perfectly within the hole meaning you can use the chair long after you have recovered.
To clean your chair, Cheeky Recovery recommends wiping it with antibacterial wipes. Cheeky Recovery believes the highest standards of personal hygiene is critical to a safe and quick recovery. Every customer who buys a BBL chair has the peace of mind knowing that each chair we sell is brand new and has never been touched or opened by anyone but you. Because of our high-quality control, Cheeky Recovery is trusted by more customers than any other BBL recovery retailer in Australia.
While some people return to sitting normally at 2 to 4 weeks, others prefer to exercise more caution and take longer to protect their grafted fat cells. It is a personal choice; some people have continued to use the chair for months. You can start sitting in your BBL chair when you feel you can comfortably get yourself in and out of the chair. In the first 4 days you will need assistance getting into the chair, and after that time you may want to use your own judgement about your readiness to get in and out of the chair.
Everyone has a different experience of recovery and regaining strength. When you regain enough strength to manoeuvre yourself in and out of the chair using the squat position, you are ready to use the chair without assistance. What one person can achieve on day 1 can take another person weeks, even very fit people can take longer time to recover.
It is recommended that you have the chair already blown up ready for use when you first get home from surgery. For the first 1 to 4 days, ask your assistant to help you to sit and stand in the chair, raising and lowering yourself using the squat position. Have your assistant grab your hands, facing you, as you gradually fall back from a standing position to a squat position and then into the chair.
The BBL chair has two components that require blowing up, the chair and the ottoman. The chair itself can be blown up with a air hairdryer in cool settings ONLY or with a pump, while the ottoman has a smaller size valve its recommended to be blown up with a pump as it will fit more precisely on the ottoman nozzle size and consequently you will waste no time in getting it ready.
It is recommended to buy the pump so you can have full use of the chair and ottoman and keep it blown up with minimum of effort. The double valve inflation port means the chair does not easily leak air, however it will still need to be topped up prior to each use, using the pump. Factors like room temperature, usage and air conditioning, can reduce the volume of air in the chair. Be sure to inflate the chair until it is firm to touch, but be careful not to overinflate it, which can cause it to burst.
The pump is an electric air pump which can inflate and deflate in minutes. You can easily repair any puncture of the chairs with patch kits. Avoid puncture damage by keeping pets, sharp objects and children away from the chair.
The sofa is pumped up with the L sized nozzle, the stool with the S sized nozzle. The pump can also be used for the mattress and has a special M sized nozzle.
Before you go to surgery, it is a good idea to place the chair in your desired place within the home. You will want to choose a location that gives you a good balance between convenience in terms of placement within the room and ease to get in and out. Many people feel more stable when their BBL chair is placed against a wall or the couch in your living room. Remember to keep your pump, if you have one, and antibacterial wipes for cleaning within easy reach of the chair, as you will be using these daily.
Follow Cheeky Recovery’s instructions to blow up your chair using the pump or hair dryer. For people who want even more comfortable on the chair, try throwing a donna over the top of the chair, pushing it down in the hole to reduce buttock pressure. The donna will help you nest more comfortably on the chair and feels softer on your skin than the PVC plastic.
The chair is a lounge experience, so you will be using it when you are hanging with your family or when you read or watch TV. It is fine to eat snacks and finger food while sitting in the chair.
When you sit on the BBL chair, you are protecting your butt from direct pressure and in doing so it’s believed you will be protecting your cells from damage. Feel reassured soft touch, unlike direct body weight pressure, should not have any negative effects on the survival of fat cells grafted to your butt.
The BBL chair is so comfortable you can snooze on it during the day. You may like to throw your doona over the top to make your experience relaxing on the chair even more cosy. Use the ottoman to stretch your legs out, so you can get into a semi reclining position perfect for snoozing.
The hole is the right size for most ladies to protect your butt from direct pressure while you sit. Your thighs, hips and weight of your back on the back rest, are the weight bearing contact points with the chair. One of the best features of the chair is that it will give you the opportunity to sit with comfy back support while relaxing your waist. This seating position can be a welcomed relief from sitting on your knees or a nice change from the BBL pillow alone.
In the first few days it is recommended for your assistant to help you to get in and out of the chair. They can help you get up from sit to squat and standing position by holding your hands to take to the distribution of weight. As you get stronger, typically over 5 to 7 days you will find that you will be able to get out of the chair unassisted on your own.
When you first attempt to get in and out of the chair on your own, you may use your assistant caregiver to pull you up to support your weight. As you regain your own strength, you can use your hand placed palms down on the side on the chair to push yourself upwards as your legs spread out to a squat and standing the position. The use on your hands in this way will balance the impact of lifting your body between your abdomen muscles and your arms.
Without a BBL mattress you will be required to sleep on your stomach for 2 to 6 weeks, depending on your doctor. Sleeping face down is not always comfortable, the BBL mattress has been designed to allow back sleepers to sleep face up, with their butt nested pressure free within the hole. Our BBL mattress will help you get a good night sleep, reduce lower back pain and ease blood circulation.
A BBL mattress, is an inflatable mattress that can lie on the floor, supporting a body weight of up to 100 kilos. Cheeky Recovery’s XXL mattress has a plush velvet like surface, over a PVC material, which both feels pleasing to touch and reduces body slippage when getting on and off the mattress.
Cheeky recovery’s BBL mattress includes a 50-centimetre hole which will allow you to sleep comfortably on your back without exerting any pressure on the fat cells on your buttocks. Cheeky Recovery’s customer research found that bigger holes were the most comfortable and flexible hole size for all body sizes. The larger hole allows you to use a doona or small cushions to create a perfect size hole to suit your body.
The right size hole is one that you create using a doona or cushion to meet your unique needs. Our customers found using a doona within a larger hole mattress created the most comfortable sleeping experience of any mattress. Your hips will feel just the right amount of support to nest you securely in place while your butt rests pressure free.
Cheeky Recovery mattresses are all brand new and have never been used. Unlike many other retailers, we don’t believe in or sell second hand products. We recommended cleaning your BBL mattress daily with antibacterial wipes.
Back sleepers are relieved to hear that they can start using the BBL mattress as soon as they arrive home from hospital. For the first 4 to 5 days, you will need assistance to get in and out of the bed, pump it up, clean it and add doona, sheets and pillows.
It is important to keep the BBL mattress pumped up and firm to touch. The BBL mattress has a very secure valve, however room temperature and usage will cause slight fluctuations in air volume in the mattress, which should be topped up daily.
Everybody regains their strength at different rates irrespective of the personal fitness levels. It may take you from day 2 to 7 to get in and out of the bed independently using your own strength.
When you first get the mattress, give it a test lie down with cushions and a donna in place, with your assistant close by to help you get out again if adjustments need to be made. If you are a smaller body build you may need to use the donna on the top as a standard fixture so you can customise the size of the hole, so it nests your buttocks and hips without applying body weight pressure.
The mattress can be used to nap or in the pool or for a resting recliner position for television, with pillows strategically placed behind your back (check our Cheeky wedge pillow). Once again, if you want to try any of these positions in the first 2-5 days, it is recommended do so with your assistant.
Yes, a quality BBL mattress that keeps you nested in a comfortable position on your back is a safe way to sleep or nap. It is known to be harmless to have light touch contact with the mattress as you get on and off, and lay on your mattress every day. The mattress is designed to allow you to sleep on your back without compromising any damage to the newly grafted fat cells as there is no body weight pressure applied to it.
After extensive product testing, Cheeky Recovery have chosen the safest BBL mattress on the market. We recommend watching Cheeky Recovery’s video on how to lay on the BBL mattress
Here is a quick step by step guide;
Step 1 – Blow up your bed using an air pump, or hair dryer in cool setting, it takes about 5 minutes. Use an open space.
Step 2 – Make sure it’s nice a firm, you don’t want it to be squishy!
Step 3 – Dress your bed with a queen size fitted sheet and puppy pads to soak up any leaking if needed.
Step 4 – To get into your bed you might find different ways that suits you, a very practical suggestion is: if you are standing with the bed on your right, put your left hand down first closest to you on the edge of the bed, then your right hand down on the far side of the bed. Then put your right knee down closest to the edge of the bed near you and then flip your left leg up and over so as you turn over your butt lands in the hole!
Step 5 – To get up push yourself up with your arms into a crab position with your feet on the bed. Then from this crab position put your right knee/leg down on the edge of the bed and flip your left leg up and over to you land with the left foot on the ground!
You can use these BBL beds to sleep on your back during recovery but you can also use them to prop yourself up to watch TV, eat and anything else you would normally do sitting.
(Disclaimer – Always check with your surgeon before using a BBL bed and ask when it is suitable based on your individual recovery to start using it)
You can use the mattress for chilling out by adding a bed pillow in the back position, giving you a gentle elevation for reading and sitting up to watch television in bed. When you are ready to sleep it is easy to reach behind your back and throw the pillow to the floor without having to get out of the bed again.
Cheeky Recovery’s XXL mattress have a quality plush velvet like surface which has a pleasant feel against the skin and you can choose to sleep directly on this surface or add a sheet.
Cheeky Recovery BBL mattress represents the best quality on the market. All air mattresses leak a little, due to changes in air pressure and the impact of your weight on the mattress. The difference between a quality mattress and a poor-quality mattress is that the quality mattress will have subtle changes in firmness that need to be topped with a pump. A poor-quality mattress can deflate so much, you may find yourself sinking to the floor.
You have a choice between pumping your mattress with a cool setting hair dryer or an electric pump. It will take 3 times as long to pump up your mattress using the hairdryer and is more cumbersome than an electric pump.
To pump up your mattress select the nozzle marked ‘M” for mattress. It will take a few minutes to pump it up the first time and will be very quick to top up each day. Your mattress is ready when it is firm to touch. Be careful to not over inflate the mattress, doing so may lead to mattress damage.
The valve needs to be securely closed by pushing it in, you may find your mattress deflating in you don’t double check this step.
It is much more effective in terms of a good night’s sleep and to protect your fat cells by nesting in the hole by adding cushions and doonas, than finding a mattress with a hole to match your body size. Our research and testing has concluded that the best hole size is big one that you modify with cushioning to make the ideal nest for your butt and hips.
For the most comfortable and secure night’s sleep, experiment with how you lay the pillows inside the hole and the donna over the hole you can adjust it to your ideal nested position, allowing your body to remain secured into a comfortable resting state that does not put any body weight pressure on your butt and its newly grafted fat cells.
With the right placement of doonas and cushions your hips will sit firmly allowing your butt to rest without pressure or sink within the hole. Women find that they don’t turn in the night when they set up a snug nest within the BBL mattress hole.
Also known as a girdle, is a form-fitting foundation garment that encircles the lower torso, extending below the hips, and is worn often to shape or support.
Before purchasing a girdle, you must be clear about the size; you might be an XS in stages 1-2 and a size M in stage 3.
The tag doesn’t define us!💥
📅 This can be anytime between weeks 4-6. If unsure, just ask your nurse or doctor for their thoughts.
⏰ Remember, we all heal at different paces.
STEP 1:
The first thing you should do to find out the girdle that best suits your body is to measure your using a tape measure around your body:
💓Waist💓
To measure your natural waist, you want to find the narrowest part of your waist, located above your belly button and rib cage.
💓Hips💓
Stand with your hips together and measure the fullest part of your hips. Be sure to go over your buttocks as well. It might be challenging to keep the tape consistently level when you do it alone; it is recommended that you have a friend assist you with this or that you do it in front of a mirror.
STEP 2:
From the measurements and using the size chart below, choose the size that best fits. If undecided between sizes, follow the hips measures first. 🍑
At Cheeky we categorize compression stages after surgery as follow:
Stage 1: 0-3 weeks post OP (Slight Compression) This is the swelling Phase -Usually the patient will wear the same size garment as its original clothing size. The garment should be easy to get In and out and have uninterrupted blood flow on any area treated.
Stage 2: 3-6 weeks post OP (Moderate Compression) This is the shaping phase. Usually by now the swelling started to subside and you can downsize your garment size to a tighter fit.
Stage 3: 6-12 weeks post OP (Strong Compression) This is the sculpting phase. You will need your body to have recovered at least 90% of the trauma caused by surgery. On this stage you will downsize again from previous garments and assist the body to have that flat and even shape desired.
Every person is different and will heal at a different pace, you might be ready for a stage 2 garment earlier then 3 weeks, etc. Always consult with your doctor if unsure what compression is recommended for your individual healing stage.
It’s important to understand that stage 3 garments are extra compressive suits and you will need some time to get used to fitting into them. Be patient first time may take you up to 45 minutes! Its normal!
The same way we will have to adapt on ways to fit in we will also need to periodically get used to the feeling of that high compression. We recommend doing this gradually, 1 hour first day, then gradually add a little time over the course of 2–3 weeks. By doing it this way, you’ll become accustomed to what it feels like having high compression around your midsection for several hours at a time, until we find ourselves wearing them all day long. We suggest wearing them no longer than 12 hours a day.
Yes!
Fajas not only assist with compression and finalizing the polishing of your body shape after surgery, but they can also be worn to help shape your body, strengthening your posture and lower back muscles.
You may notice it will help to reduce food intake as you will feel tighter sooner than usually, and when worn while exercising can help to burn fat with a thermogenic effect.
Compression Garments are not as straightforward to fit compared to a normal bodysuit. Before starting, stretch your shapewear!
STEP 1: Sit down to make yourself more comfortable and tuck your legs. Make sure that the seam is as close as possible to the internal muscles.
STEP 2: Verify that the seams are located on the inner thighs. Position buttocks and stretch upwards to cover the back, avoiding folds in the garment.
STEP 3: Position the shoulder straps on the shoulders and adjust them to your size.
STEP 4: Stretch the ends of the shapewear to the center. Adjust 4 snaps at a time. Repeat this step until the shapewear is fully buckled!
